Articles- Zero to Hero in 10 Days

By the end of 10 days, you will hopefully be getting 100 visitors or more a day! This can also help you increase your current amount of visitors.

Day 1
Let's pretend your site is getting 0 visitors a day right now. It doesn't really matter if it's just starting or if it's been open a while.

Start by plugging your site. Plug your site at all of them unless for some reason your site doesn't meet their rules. There is a list of plugboards here.

Also, comment on at least 3 sites. Make sure they are meaningful comments and not just "please visit my site!" Talk about something relevant to their update, and don't even mention your site. Just add your link in the form space where it says "URL."

Sign up for an Extreme Tracker so you can monitor your visitors.

By the end of the day, you should have at least 10 unique visitors. If not, do more plugging and meaningful commenting!

Day 2
All right, so even though you may have had more visitors yesterday than usual, it doesn't mean they'll be recurring visitors. The next step is to update daily. Even if it's something small or just a short blog, if you update daily, a lot of people will come back daily because they know you'll always have something new for them. You want to keep the visitors you're getting.

Next, keep plugging your site. Whenever you notice that your button has been pushed off the board, plug it again, but not until then! Otherwise it's spam.

Today, comment on at least 5 sites. Comment on some popular sites as well as smaller ones. If you comment on a site regularly that has about the same amount of traffic as you, it might lead to being friends or affiliates. Also try to find sites that return comments, which brings us to the next step...

Install a news system. Cutenews is ok, but it's not recommended because it's vulnerable to hacking. FanUpdate is better, or you can use something like WordPress to manage your whole site. Just make sure it has comments (or you could even install something that's just for comments, such as Haloscan).

Today you will hopefully get at least 20 visitors.

Day 3
Continue leaving good comments. Today strive for at least 10 sites, 5 of which are very popular. Also, it's not enough to say "nice new updates!" Comment on the particular things they mention, share your own experience, or say how/if you're going to use their new graphics, etc. Be a person, not a computer.

Replug your site if you've gotten off the boards, otherwise don't replug.

Look around for other sites that get around the same amount of visitors as you. Comment, and then apply for affiliates. Do this for several sites, as it's very likely to get rejected if your site is brand new and not yet established.

If you're a member of any forums or sites that allow you to have a signature or profile, make sure you add a link to your site. If you are an active member, people are sure to visit.

By the end of the day you should have at least 30 visitors.

Day 4
Keep adding new stuff daily! If you have a graphics site, layouts and brushes are very popular. Whatever site you're a fan of, add layouts for it. It could be neopets, myspace, piczo, etc. Or you could just add normal site layouts or free css.

If you have graphics, link them back to your site. Some people might remove the link, but you just have to hope that most people keep it on. Tag your graphics (make if very small and inconspicuous) with your site url to help deter people from stealing.

As far as graphics go, ask yourself: would I use this? A lot of people won't use graphics that aren't high quality, so if you're using Paint, you might want to consider downloading Gimp. It's almost as good as Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro but for free.

By the end of the day you should have at least 40 visitors.

Day 5
Join topsites. As many as you can. Even if you don't have a high rank at the moment, it'll increase over time, and plus people can still find your link even if you aren't on the first page or near the top.

Apply to be affiliates with 20 affiliates. Yes 20! Make some of them a little bit of a stretch, but not too much. If you're only getting 40 visitors and you apply to be affiliates with someone who's getting 1000, you're going to benefit, but they won't. So basically doing that is just seen as rude. So just don't do it. However, if you're getting 40, it's perfectly acceptable to apply with a site that's getting 50-70 visitors a day. As long as there isn't much of a difference, it's fine.

Hopefully you'll have 50 visitors by the end of today!

Day 6
Comment like crazy! Today is commenting day. Also, if you get comments or emails, always return them. Unless you're getting tons of comments, you should have plenty of time to return them, so do so.

So today's plan is to comment on at least 30 sites. They can be popular, just beginning, medium-sized, whatever! Just keep in mind that even though it's a lot of comments, they still need to be meaningful and non-spam, as always.

You should have at least 60 visitors by the end of the day.

Day 7
First check to see if any of the affiliate applications have accepted you. If it's a rejection, don't fret. You'll most likely be rejected loads of times (especially in the beginning), even if that's a hard fact to swallow.

Make some really cool brushes, tutorials, graphics, or an original layout to draw people in to your site. A unique, high-quality layout is very important because sometimes people will overlook your site's visitors slightly if they like your layout or content. It's called a site with potential. If your site looks promising for the future, people might accept you just for that, despite a low number of visitors.

Check the plugboards and replug if necessary. Comment on at least 5 super popular sites.

Hopefully by the end of today you'll have at least 70 visitors.

Day 8
Hold a contest or survey in your updates so it encourages people to comment. Or if you have a contest, offer a prize of free graphics or advertising and keep the contest up for a while so it gives a chance for more visitors to come in and enter.

Comment at least 10 sites (any level of popularity :P) and first write a normal, meaningful comment (see the pattern here?) but then casually mention the contest you're having.

Replug, check to see if you were accepted as an affiliate to anyone (if so add them as soon as you can! The faster you get their link up the better), and stay active on any forums you're a member of.

By the end of today you should have 80 visitors.

Day 9
Keep doing as you have been. Comment, plug, check and reply to email. Also make sure you have an affiliate application page on your site. Keep the requirements fairly low so that more people will apply. Today comment on at least 40 sites. How? Go to the sites you've been commenting before (and make sure you only comment if they actually make a new update :P) and visit all of their affiliates, and even some of those sites' affiliates if necessary.

You're almost there! You should have 90 visitors by the end of today.

Day 10
It's the last day! Whoo hoo! You've made it this far. You can end your contest today if you want or wait another week or so. To continue to have success, continue your commenting, plugging, and forum-going routine as usual, but put more stress on updating your site with high-quality graphics and content. Add some really unique content that's something so original and out-there that people have to go to your site to see it. Offer free advertising, but require that people reapply every month (then they have to go back to your site). Make a plugboard for people, start a topsite, or create a forum for your visitors. If you increase the activity of your visitors and site, more people will show up.

So by the end of this 10 day bootcamp, you should now get (hopefully!) at least 100 visitors a day. If you keep it up, your visitors will gradually increase over time. Please note, however, that it takes a lot of time and dedication to get recurring visitors to your site, so while this may jumpstart your hits, it may be a while before you persistently reach 100 every day. Good luck!
