1. Open MS Paint and determine what you want to color. Let's say I drew this carrot.

2. Throughout the tutorial I will be using these colors, but you don't have to use these exactly.

3. Double click on any color in the default color palette and hit 'Define Custom Colors.' Choose an orange color that you want your carrot to mainly be.
4. Using the side tool, drag the color down so it's really dark but you can still tell it is orange.
5. Use the pencil or paint bucket to make all of the carrot's outline (except the stem) with that orange color.

6. Now, on your default colors, find the color you just used, double click it, and make it a little bit lighter. Along the bottom part of the carrot, make a line with the pencil tool. This is your shadow.

7. Now we need to make the base color. Make it as light as you want the main carrot part to be. Use the paint bucket tool to fill in the empty part of the carrot (but again, not the stem).

8. Next, do the same and make the color even lighter and draw a line on the top of the carrot. This is your highlight.

10. Repeat this again except use green for the stem. WALA!
